Antoni TAPIES | Deux pieds | Lithograph available for sale on composition gallery

Signed and numbered by the artist. Published by Erker-Presse St. Gallen, with their dry stamp. Catalogue #: 1537 Antoni Tàpies’ Deux pieds (1997) is a compelling lithograph that blends gestural abstraction with symbolic imagery. Dominated by earthy brown tones, the composition features two outlined feet, their forms appearing raw and almost spectral, as if imprinted on the surface. Overlapping calligraphic marks, crosses, and gestural scribbles in white and black create a sense of movement and layered meaning. The presence of Tàpies’ characteristic X symbol and cryptic markings further reinforces his exploration of the body, materiality, and transcendence. This lithograph, catalogued as 1537, is part of a limited edition of 100 and exemplifies Tàpies’ ability to merge physicality and mysticism in his art.

What is the Zero Movement?

ZERO was an art movement founded by Otto Piene and Heinz Mack, aiming to develop into a large international and cross-border movement. The name ZERO originated from a magazine founded by Heinz Mack in 1957, which became a platform for the group's ideas. The magazine was published for several years before ceasing in 1967. The ZERO movement sought to create a new beginning in art, emphasizing light, space, and movement, and became influential in post-war European art.
