Matias Faldbakken was born in Denmark in 1973, and he is an artist as well as a writer. His first book was called 'The Cocka Hola Company' which was the first of a three part series and published under the pen name Abo Rasul.

In 2008, Faldbakken released a updated version of Henrik Ibsen's 'Dollhouse' which he titled 'Cold Product.' Matias Faldbakken creates contemporary artwork of a hermetic nature, which expresses a desire for rebellion on the whole. The artist/writer says that he combines his art with his writing. Matias Faldbakken explained in one interview that his art was mostly language based, and he decided to 'knit' his art and his writing together to form entertainment in a literary format. Faldbakken describes both his art and his writing as having 'negativistic strategies' with the difference being Matias Faldbakken's literary work is easy to read while his art is hermetic and mute. He likes to use writing to 'popularize' some of his ideas, while he uses art to silently express- without intention of communicating to an audience.

What is appropriation?

The use of images or pre-existing objects with application of little or completely no transformation to them. In visual arts for instance, to appropriate means properly adopting, sampling, recycling or borrowing aspects(even entire form) of artificial visual culture.
