Original Signed Artworks & Limited Edition Prints For Sale

Mateo Lopez is a Columbian artist who works, at least as a starting point, with the most basic of mediums: pencil and paper. However, Mateo Lopez's work is anything but basic. Influenced by his 2 years studying architecture in University before switching to art, Mateo Lopez incorporates sculpture to tell a narrative, often related to his own travels.

« Everyone knows what it feels to be lonely, to be afraid they will never find happiness. »
Mateo Lopez
An example of this are two of his exhibition titled, in English,Motorcycle Diary and Anecdotal Topography, which told the story of his journey to and around Cali and Medellin, Columbia from his home city of Columbia, a journey totaling over 1200 miles, all on a motorcycle, with what he called a portable studio in his backpack. This studio held music, notebooks, a tripod and his camera and 2 changes of clothes.

What is Process Art?

What is Process Art?

It refers to creative sentiment as well as artistic movement where the final product of craft and art is not the artist's principal focus. The term "process" in this art refers to art formation, gathering, the sorting, associating, collating, initiation and patterning of proceedings and happenings. It is concerned with the actual deed and the defining of actions as actual artwork; seeing it as purely human expression. Process art mostly entails inherent motivation, intentionality and rationale. This art is therefore, viewed as a creative process or journey rather than being an end product or a deliverable.
