Screenprint on BFK Rives 250g. Perfectly framed // La Côte d'Azur by Roger Raveel, created in 2012, is a vibrant screen print that reflects the artist's unique blend of abstract and figurative elements. The composition is divided into contrasting sections: a textured blue and black area suggesting the sea, bordered by green and yellow tones that may hint at coastal vegetation. On the right, a striped brown section with a red square introduces a geometric, architectural form. A bold black and red line divides the natural and constructed elements, capturing the essence of the Côte d'Azur’s landscape. Printed on BFK Rives 250g paper and beautifully framed, this limited edition of 100 pieces highlights Raveel's characteristic style, where familiar landscapes are infused with abstract qualities.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
