Peter Halley, S/T 2, 2015 lithograph and silkscreen print, intersecting rectangular shapes in soft pale tones with textured surfaces.

Lithograph and silkscreen // S/T 2 by Peter Halley is a 2015 limited edition print created through a combination of lithography and silkscreen techniques. This work embodies Halley’s geometric minimalism, featuring rectangular and square shapes intersecting in a structured composition. The soft, pale palette lends a subdued visual quality, allowing the interplay of textures to stand out. Halley’s work often explores themes of isolation and connection within modern digital and urban landscapes, transforming geometric forms into representations of confinement and connectivity. In S/T 2, the layered shapes and patterns evoke a sense of order and restraint, inviting viewers to reflect on structure in contemporary spaces.

What is East Village Art?

In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
