Silkscreen on Paper. Mr. Brainwash’s Flowarh$ – II (B) (2021) is a silkscreen edition print on paper that amplifies the visual impact of his flower motif through scale and saturation. Produced in an edition of 34 and measuring 36 x 36 inches, this larger-format version intensifies the contrast between luminous yellow and pale cream blossoms and the dense, graffiti-charged green background. The layered ground evokes urban walls covered with tags, drips, and gestural marks, creating a textured field of movement and depth. Against this energetic surface, the simplified floral silhouettes appear bold and almost industrial in their flatness. Referencing the legacy of Pop Art while embedding street culture aesthetics, the work examines repetition, branding, and the commodification of beauty, reinforcing Mr. Brainwash’s signature fusion of appropriation and spectacle.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
