Mixed Media on Paper. Everyday Life (2019) by Mr. Brainwash is a vibrant, mixed media work that blends street art, pop culture, and bold messaging. At the center, a realistically rendered chimpanzee sits atop a red Coca-Cola crate, holding a spray can in one hand and pointing to the bright red graffiti-like text: “FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.” The background is a riot of colorful drips, layers, and icons, including nods to Warhol's Campbell's Soup, Mickey Mouse, and other cultural imagery. This piece, typical of Mr. Brainwash’s optimistic and ironic tone, uses the contrast between the animal and urban slogans to emphasize creativity, rebellion, and self-belief.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
