Lithograph in colors on Arches paper. Published by Teriade Editeur, Paris. Signed in pencil. Marc Chagall’s La lutte de Jacob et de l'ange (1972) is a lyrical color lithograph illustrating the biblical scene of Jacob wrestling the angel. Rendered in Chagall’s dreamlike palette of soft greens, yellows, and reds, the image blends ethereal figures with earthly scenes—an angel with luminous wings embraces Jacob in a celestial struggle. Around them, fragmented narratives unfold: ascending figures on a ladder, a cityscape, and a painter sketching. The composition captures Chagall’s signature synthesis of spiritual symbolism and poetic abstraction. Printed on Arches paper, this work is a proof aside from the edition of 50 and is signed in pencil. Published by Tériade, Paris.

What is Cubism?
Cubism is an art movement that aimed to depict multiple perspectives of objects or figures within a single picture. Artists Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso pioneered this style around 1907. The name Cubism emerged from their use of geometric shapes and outlines that often resembled cubes, breaking objects down into abstracted forms.
