Published by Editions Georges Visat, Paris, in an edition of 99 plus 20 HC. - Literature: L. Anselmino, 'Man Ray Opera Grafica', Turin 1973, vol. I cat. no. 29E. // Man Ray's Untitled (from Transfiguration d'un Cactus) (1971) is an aquatint print that demonstrates his experimental approach to abstract forms and textures. This artwork features two biomorphic shapes intertwined in a dynamic composition, with the larger form merging red and blue hues that contrast vibrantly against the white background. Each color area is adorned with lines and markings, suggesting a textured surface that resembles natural forms or plant structures. This piece, published by Editions Georges Visat in Paris, blurs the line between abstraction and organic representation, encouraging viewers to interpret the forms freely. With dimensions of 76 x 56.5 cm, this print is part of a limited edition of 99 with an additional 20 HC copies.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
