// Sin título con nazi by Liliana Porter is a limited edition lithograph from 2005, produced in an edition of 50 with additional artist’s proofs (PA). This artwork presents a striking and thought-provoking composition featuring a collection of small figurines, including toys and dolls, clustered together. In the center, a figure in a Nazi-like uniform stands out, creating a jarring contrast within the otherwise innocent assembly. Rendered in a muted, sepia-like tone, the piece evokes a sense of nostalgia, but the presence of the uniformed figure introduces tension and discomfort. Porter’s work often juxtaposes innocence with unsettling elements, inviting viewers to reflect on history, memory, and the ambiguous narratives embedded in seemingly ordinary objects.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
