Photoetching with collage on super Alfa paper // Correction (Mod. 5) by Liliana Porter is a minimalist etching from 2019, featuring a delicate drawing of a flower with a single red petal. Rendered on super Alfa paper, the simplicity of the flower’s form draws attention to the artist’s playful approach to detail and imperfection. The flower, isolated in the center of the composition, evokes a sense of innocence and understated beauty. The single red petal, collaged onto the etching, introduces a subtle but intentional disruption in the otherwise monochromatic image. Porter's work often reflects themes of memory, fragility, and the juxtaposition of the ordinary with the surreal. This limited edition print is part of a series exploring the beauty in minor corrections or alterations, inviting viewers to consider how small details can transform perception.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
