Liliana Porter is an Argentinian-born Contemporary artist who works in various forms of media. She is known for her work invideo, installation art, printmaking, photography, and mixed media. Her inspirations include the Arte Povera group, the Guerrilla Girls, and Roy Lichtenstein among many others. Liliana Porter studied at the Universidad Ibero americana, which is located in Mexico City, Mexico, followed by training at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes, which is located in the artist's homeland of Argentina. The educator co-founded the New York Graphic Workshop following her move to NYC (1964). Moreover, the multimedia artist was also a co-founder and teacher at Studio Camnitzer (1974),which is a studio that caters to artists in all forms of media. Studio Camnitzer is located in Italy. In addition to her work across various mediums, Liliana Porter has established a long and distinguished career in the Education field and teaching. Some of her educational endeavors include the Printmaking Workshop, SUNY Purchase, the State University of New York at Old Westbury, the Porter-Wiener Studio, and Queens College, City University of New York, where the educator was a professor for 16 years (1991-2007). Liliana Porter has won several prestigious accolades over the course of her career. Some of these accomplishments include the Guggenheim and 3-time winner of The New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships. These awards were garnered in 1980, 1985, 1996, and 1999, respectively.
