// Julian Opie’s Boat 4 from 2015 is a minimalist yet evocative exploration of form and line, characteristic of his iconic style. This piece, rendered in mixed media, features a simple, black outline of a boat, floating against a stark white background. Opie's use of bold, simplified lines strips the object of extraneous detail, allowing the viewer to focus on the essence of the boat’s shape and structure. The work’s almost childlike simplicity captures a universal, timeless quality, evoking memories of boats seen or imagined. Limited to an edition of 25, Boat 4 exemplifies Opie’s ability to distill complex subjects into their most essential visual elements, creating a sense of clarity and calm.

What is new British Sculpture?
New British Sculpture is the name referring to the work produced by a group of sculptors, installation artists, and other creators who exhibited together in London during the 1980s. This group included artists like Richard Deacon, Richard Wentworth, and Tony Cragg. Tim Woods helped define this movement by identifying four major themes: the blending of kitsch and pop culture, the use of UK urban waste in a bricolage style, the assignment of new meanings to everyday objects, and a playful approach using wit and humor.
