Linocut on wove paper. Hand-signed in pencil and numbered. // Ständchen für B und D centres on a grand piano illuminated in golden yellow against a dark teal background, with figures gathered around the instrument in a musical serenade scene. The initials B and D inscribed on the piano suggest a personal dedication, lending intimacy to Jörg Immendorff's typically public imagery. Deep green and golden hues replace the artist's usual aggressive palette with something more lyrical yet equally charged. Printed in an edition of 35, this 1991 linocut reveals a contemplative dimension within Immendorff's otherwise combative graphic practice.

What is Lettrism?
Lettrism is an art form that uses letters, words, and symbols to create artwork. The movement was established in Paris in the 1940s and later gained popularity in the 1950s in America. Lettrisme is the French spelling of the movement's name, derived from the French word for letter.
