From the Suite of Twenty-Seven Color Lithographs - Lithograph in green on Rives BFK paper - Signed in pencil - Published by Maeght, Paris // Green (Vert) by Ellsworth Kelly, created between 1964 and 1965, is a limited edition lithograph that exemplifies the artist's mastery of color and shape. The composition features a large, irregular green form that fills most of the space on a white background. The soft, organic shape contrasts with the crisp edges of the paper, highlighting Kelly's focus on abstraction and minimalism. By isolating the form and using a single, solid color, the piece invites the viewer to engage with the purity of color and form, central themes in Kelly's body of work.

What is Surrealism?
Surrealism began in the 1920s as an art and literary movement with the goal of revealing the unconscious mind and unleashing the imagination by exploring unusual and dream-like imagery. Influenced by Sigmund Freud’s theories of psychoanalysis, Surrealist artists and writers sought to bring the unconscious into rational life, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. The movement aimed to challenge conventional perceptions and express the irrational aspects of the human experience.
