Print - UV pigment print with yellow silkscreen details and a matte varnish seal, printed on 410gsm Somerset Tub Sized Radiant White paper. Unsigned, numbered. Actual Size by Ed Ruscha, created in 2024, is a striking UV pigment print with yellow silkscreen details, merging pop iconography with a conceptual edge. The upper half features the bold, unmistakable SPAM logo in bright yellow against a deep blue field, while the lower portion introduces a surreal element: a SPAM can trailing a yellow comet-like streak across a white, speckled plane. Printed on Somerset paper with a matte varnish finish, the work plays with notions of scale, consumer culture, and absurdity. Ruscha’s deadpan humor and graphic clarity create a visually bold commentary on branding and modern symbolism.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
