'Wrist Watch Rising, from Art Pro-Choice II' by Claes Oldenburg is a lithograph from 1991, measuring 51.5 × 41 cm, from a hand-numbered edition. A wristwatch — rendered in amber-yellow, grey, and black — tilts upright on its strap as though mid-stride, its face crossed with gestural marks and its buckle arcing overhead. Scattered grey droplets and a loose black squiggle occupy the cream ground around it. The image belongs squarely to Oldenburg's lifelong practice of animating consumer objects, granting the watch the posture and implied momentum of a figure. Part of the Art Pro-Choice II portfolio, it reflects his long-standing use of printmaking as a medium for politically engaged collaborative projects.
