Murano Glass. Signed and numbered on the accompanying certificate and inscribed on the bottom. Ai Weiwei’s Vase (Mustard) (2024) reimagines a classical ceramic form in richly pigmented Murano glass, boldly embossed with the iconic Coca-Cola logo. At once elegant and subversive, the work critiques consumerism and the globalization of culture. By fusing traditional craftsmanship with pop iconography, Weiwei continues his exploration of cultural value and authorship. The mustard hue evokes both vibrancy and industrial polish, underscoring the tension between art and mass production. Each vase is inscribed on the underside and accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate, from a total edition of 100.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
