Etching // Tony Cragg's Untitled (Abstract Mesh) is a limited edition etching from around the year 2000. The composition is a complex web of intricate, overlapping lines that form an organic, abstract structure. Rendered in a reddish hue, the mesh-like forms seem to intertwine and overlap, suggesting a dense accumulation of shapes and layers. The minimalistic presentation on a clean, white background emphasizes the delicate and fluid nature of the lines. This piece reflects Cragg’s ongoing interest in organic forms and the relationship between natural structures and human-made objects, inviting viewers to explore its depth and intricacy.

What is new British Sculpture?
New British Sculpture is the name referring to the work produced by a group of sculptors, installation artists, and other creators who exhibited together in London during the 1980s. This group included artists like Richard Deacon, Richard Wentworth, and Tony Cragg. Tim Woods helped define this movement by identifying four major themes: the blending of kitsch and pop culture, the use of UK urban waste in a bricolage style, the assignment of new meanings to everyday objects, and a playful approach using wit and humor.
