Substractive Variability Compact 2

Felipe Pantone's Chromadyna Micap #1, lithograph on Magnani Incisione paper, with vibrant zigzag patterns in gradient colors.

Lithograph on Magnani Incisione paper // Chromadyna Micap #1 by Felipe Pantone is a limited edition lithograph created on Magnani Incisione paper. This piece showcases Pantone’s signature use of vibrant gradients, geometric shapes, and optical patterns. In a series of sharp, zigzagging forms, the artwork juxtaposes colors from cool blues to warm oranges and yellows, creating a dynamic visual effect that plays with depth and motion. Pantone’s exploration of color and digital aesthetics results in a piece that is both hypnotic and energetic, pushing the boundaries between static art and a sense of virtual movement. This 2021 work exemplifies Pantone's contemporary approach to merging digital and analog styles.

What is kinetic art?

Kinetic art is an international movement that emerged in the 1920s and gained prominence in the 1960s, referring to art that involves both apparent and real motion. It encompasses any medium that includes movement, either relying on actual motion for its effect or being perceived as moving by the viewer. Early examples include canvas paintings designed to create optical illusions of movement. Today, kinetic art often refers to three-dimensional figures and sculptures, such as those operated by machines or those that move naturally. The movement covers a variety of styles and techniques that frequently overlap.
