A collaboration between Ed Ruscha and Ken Price. Published by Tamarind Lithography Workshop Los Angeles. Original lithograph in colors on Copperplate Deluxe paper. Hand signed by Ruscha and Price // Ed Ruscha's Flies and Frog (1969), a collaboration with Ken Price, is a limited edition lithograph that embodies Ruscha's conceptual approach and minimalist aesthetic. Published by the Tamarind Lithography Workshop, this lithograph is printed on Copperplate Deluxe paper and measures 58.4 x 83.8 cm. The composition features an expanse of scattered flies set against a white background, enclosed within a simple blue border. In the lower right corner, a vividly illustrated frog appears, contrasting with the monochrome arrangement of flies. The juxtaposition between these elements invites viewers to explore the unexpected relationships and narratives that emerge from simple, seemingly unrelated objects. By merging these forms, Ruscha challenges the viewer’s perception and interpretation of visual meaning.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
