'Future Relic 08 – Radio' by Daniel Arsham is a plaster sculpture measuring 21.5 × 42.5 × 13 cm, cast from a vintage boombox and coated entirely in white. Ruptures across the casing expose eruptions of raw, granular material — ash-like in texture — that appear to burst outward from the speaker grilles and chassis. The object reads simultaneously as preserved and destroyed. Arsham, who trained at The Cooper Union and has built a practice around geological and mineral materials, positions familiar consumer objects within a fictional timeline in which the present has already become ancient. The 'Future Relic' series treats everyday electronics as archaeological finds from a collapsed civilization, stripped of colour and function, rendered as specimens. The uniform white plaster finish erases brand identity while the object's form remains fully legible — a deliberate tension between recognition and ruin.
