Set of 3 individual screens on Archival 100% cotton paper - Hand signed, dated and numbered // Eroded Classical Prints by Daniel Arsham is a set of three screen prints that depict classical Greco-Roman busts with a unique twist—each appears to be partially eroded, with sections of the sculptures missing. Arsham adds speech bubbles to each bust, as if the ancient figures are commenting on their own decay, which introduces a playful and contemporary dialogue with the past. These prints explore the themes of time, history, and degradation, making classical icons appear as if they are relics from a distant future. The combination of ancient imagery with modern pop art elements is characteristic of Arsham’s work, merging archaeology with a futuristic vision.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
