Plaster and Crushed Glass sculpture with original presentation box - Numbered on label on the box // Daniel Arsham's Future Relic 08 (Radio) (2017) is a sculptural work that transforms a once-commonplace object, a radio, into a decayed artifact of the future. Made from plaster and crushed glass, the piece mimics the form of a vintage boombox, but it is presented in a state of erosion, with significant portions of its surface appearing to have disintegrated. The detailed textures and distressed surface suggest the passage of time and the fragility of technological objects. Arsham’s Future Relic series contemplates how everyday items may be rediscovered as archaeological finds in the distant future, inviting viewers to reflect on obsolescence, memory, and the impermanence of culture.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
