Silkscreesn Hand Embossed 140lb Cold Press Aquarelel Paper // Charles Hinman's Carnelian is a refined 2014 silkscreen print that showcases his skill in geometric abstraction. Printed on hand-embossed 140lb cold-press Aquarelle paper, this work features a minimalist arrangement of intersecting lines and subtle color accents. The composition combines thin lines in orange, blue, and teal with an embossed, angular form, creating a sense of depth and dimensionality. The interplay of lines and shapes gives the work a dynamic quality, evoking the feel of a three-dimensional structure on a two-dimensional surface. Hinman’s approach encourages viewers to explore spatial relationships and color balance in an abstract setting.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
