Screenprint in colours on paper. Unsigned, numbered, and blind stamped. // Banksy's "CND Soldiers (Unsigned)" is a screenprint in colours on paper from 2005, issued in an edition of three hundred and fifty. Two black stencilled soldiers in full combat gear — helmets, fatigues and rifles slung across their backs — crouch beside a wall, industriously painting a large red dripping CND peace symbol, a paint can resting between them. The image crystallises Banksy's signature irony: instruments of war conscripted into the service of peace, the subversive absurdity underscored by the soldiers' workmanlike dedication.

What is Cynical Realism?
Cynical Realism is a term first used in 1992 by art critic Li Xianting to describe a group of Beijing artists who created satirical social realist paintings. The group aimed to depict the psychological turmoil experienced in China as the country grappled with new political ideologies.
