Horacio García Rossi

Recognised as a pioneer of Kinetic Art, Horacio Garcia Rossi created with a keen on the concept of ‘colour-light’ and exploring the relationships between light and motion within the realms of art. Rossi’s earliest outputs were heavily centred around the use of black and white on a two-dimensional plain, but he later went on to create a series of light installations including Unstable Light Boxes and Rotating Cylinders – the latter was an interactive piece that could manually be moved by his audience. Rossi was a co-founder of GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel) and worked alongside fellow members such as Francisco Sabrino and Julio Le Parc – the groups’ Light and Movement exhibition of 1967 is considered as a key moment in the emergence of Kinetic Art. (Artist website)
