Shaped aluminum with black flock mounted to a polished stainless steel base with flocked feet - Signed in plate, in the base - Mint in the original box // Kenny Scharf’s Flores Black (2020) is a mixed media sculpture that brings a playful, surreal twist to the traditional floral arrangement. Created from shaped aluminum with black flocking, the silhouette of a stylized bouquet bursts from a vase, its flowers and spiraling stems evoking both whimsy and elegance. Mounted on a polished stainless steel base, this sculpture contrasts its sleek foundation with the soft, textured surface of the black flock. The exaggerated forms and abstract shapes of the flowers reflect Scharf's characteristic pop-surrealist style, blending familiar imagery with imaginative flair. Measuring 63.5 x 53.3 cm, this piece is both minimalistic and bold, capturing attention with its striking silhouette.

What is East Village Art?
In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
