Archival pigment print in colors with high gloss varnish and diamond dust on Innova Etching cotton rag 315 gsm fine art paper - Signed, numbered and dated in pencil "// Kenny Scharf’s 'Schrungle' (2022) is a vibrant and surreal archival pigment print that showcases his playful, futuristic style. The artwork is teeming with organic, alien-like forms in shades of green, blue, and purple. The composition features a fantastical world filled with strange, whimsical plants and creatures, their tendrils and limbs intertwining in a chaotic yet harmonious dance. Scharf’s signature use of fluid, cartoonish shapes and bold colors infuses the scene with a sense of energy and motion. The addition of high gloss varnish and diamond dust gives the print a shimmering, otherworldly quality, enhancing the texture and depth of the intricate details. What is East Village Art?
In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
