Hand-painted resin sculpture. Not signed. GT Biscuit by Gavin Turk is a small hand-painted resin sculpture replicating a classic British biscuit, complete with a stylized “G” formed by its perforations. Centered within a dark background, the object balances humor with commentary on branding, nostalgia, and the commodification of art. Created in 2015 in an edition of 50, the piece fits Turk's ongoing exploration of identity and authorship. By presenting a mass-produced snack as fine art, Turk plays with perceptions of value and cultural memory, while the absence of a signature underscores his conceptual approach.

What is pop-art?
Pop Art is an art movement that began in Britain in 1955 and in the late 1950s in the U.S. It challenged traditional fine arts by incorporating imagery from popular culture, such as news, advertising, and comic books. Pop Art often isolates and recontextualizes materials, combining them with unrelated elements. The movement is more about the attitudes and ideas that inspired it than the specific art itself. Pop Art is seen as a reaction against the dominant ideas of Abstract Expressionism, bringing everyday consumer culture into the realm of fine art.
