Portfolio of 31 prints // Reinhoud d'Haese's Deluxe Edition (1989) is a striking etching characterized by an abstract, almost anthropomorphic form crafted in gold-toned hues. The piece exudes a raw, sculptural quality, with textured surfaces and jagged edges suggesting both organic and mechanical elements. The etched lines, combined with irregular shapes and cuts, evoke a sense of movement and transformation, hinting at d'Haese’s surrealist influence. This print, part of a portfolio of 31, measures 41.5 x 31.5 cm and reflects the artist's fascination with the fusion of form and texture, creating a unique interplay between metallic rigidity and expressive abstraction. Limited to an edition of 26 with an additional 5 HC (Hors Commerce) prints, it is a testament to d'Haese's mastery of both material and form.

What is the CoBrA movement?
CoBrA stands for Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam; the group was formed with a desire to break away from the existing art movements of the time. Their critique of Western society led them to experiment and evolve into a significant international movement. CoBrA was founded on November 8, 1948, at the Notre Dame Café in Paris, where its manifesto was signed by Karel Appel, Joseph Noiret, Corneille, Christian Dotremont, Constant, and Asger Jorn. The group was united by a shared commitment to freedom in both form and color, and their work emphasized experimentation and spontaneity.
