No Title (You have still)

Raymond Pettibon No Title Our Secret Spot lithograph with blue wave strokes and red surfer under handwritten text at top.

Six-colour lithograph on Rives BFK paper. Signed and numbered on the front. No Title (Our Secret Spot) by Raymond Pettibon is a six-colour lithograph printed on Rives BFK paper. Created in 2022, the piece combines gestural brushstrokes in deep blue with a small red figure, likely a surfer, riding a stylized wave. The handwritten text Our Secret Spot floats above the oceanic abstraction, evoking themes of solitude, intimacy, and the thrill of finding untouched places. Pettibon’s signature style blends text and image in a raw, expressive manner, often hinting at American subcultures. This work, from an edition of 35, reflects both freedom and fleeting connection within vast, natural forces.

What is animation?

Animation is the process of displaying a sequence of static images in rapid succession to create the illusion of movement. Each image, or frame, is slightly altered from the previous one, particularly in the moving parts, so when shown together, they form a continuous motion. Traditionally, illustrators drew each frame by hand to produce this effect.
