Aquatint and gold leaf // Bull by Mimmo Paladino is a limited edition aquatint with gold leaf, blending textured abstraction with symbolic imagery. The composition is divided into two sections: the top half, rendered in a dense black, filled with fine, chaotic lines that add depth and intensity, and the bottom half, adorned with gold leaf, presenting a stark contrast. In the center of the golden section stands a solitary black bull, depicted in delicate detail, grounding the piece with a sense of presence and weight. The contrast between the dark, abstract upper portion and the golden lower half creates a mysterious, almost mystical quality. Measuring 50 cm by 35 cm, this artwork evokes themes of strength, endurance, and ancient symbolism, hallmarks of Paladino's work, with the bull as a timeless figure within mythological and cultural contexts.

What is Transvanguardia ?
Transavanguardia is the Italian version of Neo-Expressionism, referring to an art movement that emerged in Italy and other parts of Western Europe during the 1970s and 1980s. The term translates to beyond the avant-garde. Transavanguardia arose as a reaction against the dominance of conceptual art, reintroducing emotion and reviving painting as a primary medium. The movement marked a return to mythic imagery and figurative art, celebrating a rediscovery of traditional forms and themes in a contemporary context.
