Photoetching // Massimo Bartolini's 145 Hours, a limited edition photoetching from 2014, presents a dense, textured square at the center of a blank canvas, rendered in intricate red lines. The composition resembles a web or tangle, suggesting the passage of time and the accumulation of energy or thought. The title, 145 Hours, may refer to the duration invested in the meticulous creation of this complex structure, with each line contributing to the sense of layered intricacy. Bartolini’s approach invites viewers to contemplate both the physical process of mark-making and the abstract representation of time and endurance. The contrast between the central, intense square and the empty surrounding space emphasizes the work’s introspective and meditative qualities.

What is Sound Art?
Sound Art is an artistic discipline where sound is used as the primary medium. Like other contemporary art genres, Sound Art is inherently interdisciplinary, engaging with a variety of subjects including electronics, acoustics, noise music, psychoacoustics, audio media, video, film, and sculpture. Early examples of Sound Art include Luigi Russolo's noise intoners, as well as experimental works by Surrealists, Dadaists, and the Fluxus movement. These early pioneers helped establish sound as a legitimate medium for artistic expression.
