4 plastercasts and handpainted alternative fossils wrapped in paraffin-paper and all together in a black cardboard-box with title-label. This box comes with a b&w silkscreen (30 x 20 cm) signed, titled, numb., dated // Emanations of the Earth by Mark Dion is a sculptural work from 2017, composed of four unique plaster casts that resemble alternative fossils. Each cast is intricately hand-painted to mimic ancient, almost mythical creatures, encapsulating Dion’s fascination with natural history and the concept of fabricated artifacts. The pieces are individually wrapped in paraffin paper, enhancing the sense of delicate preservation, and are housed together in a black cardboard box, which includes a signed and numbered black-and-white silkscreen. This limited edition of 16 invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s interpretation of nature and archeology, blending scientific curiosity with an artistic reimagining of what could be ancient life forms.
