// Las Meninas #4 by Manolo Valdés is an evocative etching from the year 2000. This artwork is part of a limited edition of 146 prints, drawing inspiration from Diego Velázquez's iconic 17th-century painting Las Meninas. Valdés reinterprets this classic by using bold, abstract forms and a rich, black palette that dominates the canvas. The figure, seemingly crafted with dynamic splatters and thick brushstrokes, evokes a sense of movement and fluidity while maintaining a shadowy resemblance to the original composition. The image is both haunting and intriguing, inviting viewers to explore the contrasts between representation and abstraction, tradition and modernity. Measuring 65 by 50 centimeters, this work captures Valdés' distinct approach to transforming historical imagery into contemporary visual language.

What is site specific art?
Site-Specific Art is a form of artwork created to exist in a particular location, with the artist considering the site as an integral part of the creative process. Robert Irwin was a key figure in promoting this art form in California. Site-Specific Art emerged as a reaction against modernist objects, which were often portable, commodified, and confined to museum spaces. In contrast, Site-Specific Art is inherently tied to its location, challenging the traditional notions of art as a transportable and marketable commodity.
