Lithograph on BFK Rives 300 g // Untitled (Gradient) by Harold Ancart, a lithograph from 2017, presents a vivid scene dominated by flames, smoke, and vibrant colors. The artwork captures the raw energy of fire, with bright orange and red flames rising against a backdrop of thick, billowing smoke in shades of gray and black. Above, soft pinks and whites suggest the sky or clouds, contrasting with the intense, chaotic movement below. Ancart’s bold use of color and abstraction brings a sense of both destruction and beauty, inviting viewers to reflect on nature’s power and the delicate balance between creation and devastation.

What is minimalism?
Minimalism is a style in music and visual arts characterized by pared-down designs and simplicity. It began in Western art after World War II, gaining prominence particularly in American visual arts. Minimalism draws heavily on aspects of modernism and is often viewed as a reaction against Abstract Expressionism, as well as a precursor to post-minimal art practices. Prominent minimalist artists include Agnes Martin, Donald Judd, Robert Morris, Frank Stella, and Dan Flavin.
