Mosaic work in polychrome natural stone on cement - Frame in polished oak, transparent semi-gloss lacquered, with container for artist's book on the back, and closing with transparent plexiglass. Comes with the Artist's Book by Enzo Cucchi. // Enzo Cucchi’s Four Arms and Seven Hands (2011) is a unique mosaic artwork combining natural polychrome stone and cement, creating a textured and vibrant surface. Set within a polished oak frame, the piece depicts abstracted forms that resemble arms and hands in a surreal arrangement, using a limited color palette of gray, black, orange, and beige. The mosaic's bold shapes and dynamic composition reflect Cucchi's distinct approach to blending figuration with abstraction, inviting interpretations of symbolism and the mystical. The frame includes a container for an accompanying artist's book by Cucchi, providing further insight into the conceptual elements of the work. Encased in transparent plexiglass, the piece gains an added layer of depth and preservation, making it both a visual and tactile experience. This limited edition mosaic is a testament to Cucchi’s exploration of form and material, creating a bridge between traditional and contemporary art practices.

What is ‘light and space’?

The Light and Space Movement refers to loosely affiliated art movements connected to minimalism, geometric abstraction, and op art that originated in Southern California in the 1960s. Greatly influenced by artist John McLaughlin, these artists focused on sensory phenomena such as light, perception, and space as central elements of their work. They also incorporated cutting-edge technologies from the aerospace and engineering industries to develop light-filled and sensuous objects, creating immersive experiences that emphasize the viewer's perception.
