Bengt Lindstrom

Bengt Lindstrom is an artist from the Lapland area of Sweden. His early life in this place, where it is common to hear of the legends and tales of mystical beings, filled his artwork with a bold presence of color, form, shape, Lapp culture and shamanism. Known as an Impasto painter, his art also includes figurative works with distortion in the faces of his subjects. He has created numerous murals, outdoor paintings, glass and ceramic pieces, sculptures and lithographs. Bengt Lindstrom’s early art took inspiration from the Cubist movement. But after he moved to France, his experimentation with monsters, gods and masks moved his art loosely toward the COBRA group. Bengt Lindstrom saturated pure color palette remained distinct, with intense colors and unblended strokes of paint used throughout many of his pieces. Animal Sacre’ is one example characteristic of his bold paint strokes, intense color palette and figurative yet distorted face. An excellent representative of his outdoor murals is the one painted on the Akkas Dam Hydropower Station. He took part in the 1993 exhibition of glass art, “Grandi Vetri di Murano”. The art work of Bengt Lindstom is displayed in more than 38 major museums around the world. His pieces are also sold by prestigious galleries today.
