Wat is Colour Field Painting?
Color Field Painting is een abstracte stijl die wordt gekenmerkt door grote vlakken van één kleur of eenvoudige, effen kleuren. De term werd voor het eerst gebruikt in de jaren 1950 om het werk van drie Amerikaanse abstract expressionistische schilders—Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko en Clyfford Still—te beschrijven. Hun werk legde de nadruk op de emotionele kracht van kleur en het creëren van uitgestrekte, meditatieve ruimtes door middel van uitgestrekte kleurvelden.
