What is marker?

Marker is the term used for a wide array of drawing tools made with colorful inks which dry quickly. They vary in size and colorant, which may be ink, dye or paint. They are available with tip variations and make smooth marks with distinct edges.

Dada

Also called Dadaism, Dada was a literary and artistic movement that started in 1916 in the area of Zurich, Switzerland. It began as a rejection of rationalism and nationalism which were seen as practices that brought world war I. It also had some political affinities in addition to being an anti world-war I art. Dada activities were demonstrations, gatherings, and the publication of literary/art journals that covered culture and political topics.

De Stijl

De Stijl, meaning “Style”, was a group of Dutch artists who created abstract art which adhered to vertical and horizontal geometry. The group was founded by Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg. Mondrian left De Stijl when Van Doesburg began using diagonal geometry.

Political pop

Political pop was an art movement which merged the pop art of Western countries with the socialist realism of China during the 1980s. China was experiencing rapid social and political changes, and artists sought to create art which questioned these cultural changes.
