Hand-Pulled Limited Edition screenprint - Signed by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, the Administrators of the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat // Jean-Michel Basquiat's Untitled I from The Figures Portfolio (1982/2023) is a screenprint that vibrantly showcases his distinct style of raw, expressive lines, chaotic energy, and layered symbolism. The composition is densely packed with fragmented figures, symbols, and text, evoking a sense of urban graffiti and street culture. The central figure, a humanoid crowned character with animalistic features, stands with an outstretched arm amidst a backdrop filled with various characters and abstract forms. Surrounding the main figure are recurring Basquiat motifs, such as crowns, teeth, and arrows, emphasizing his exploration of power dynamics, identity, and societal commentary. The bold use of primary colors, paired with scribbles and chaotic marks, creates a visual intensity that draws viewers into the artist’s world. Authenticated by the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat, this limited edition print is signed by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux.

What is East Village Art?
In 1981, Patti Astor opened the first art gallery in New York City's East Village, helping to launch the careers of various artists and musicians. The gallery started small but quickly gained popularity, contributing to the emergence of art movements such as Neo-Expressionism and Street Art in the area. The East Village became a hub for these new artistic expressions. However, the gallery closed in 1985 due to waning interest.
