Georges Braque along with Pablo Picasso was a co-founder of the art style of Cubism, He began his working career as a designer but gravitated to painting and pother fine arts. He is mostly known for his still lifes but also painted birds, landscapes, and seascapes.
Braque was a Frenchman who spent his artistic career in Paris. He began his painting career studying Impressionism and Fauvism before developing his Cubism style. Barque studied at the `Ecole des Beuzx-Arts and later at the Academie Humbart. He began working with Pablo Picasso and together they developed Cubism. They had similar styles and soon began adding collage elements to their paintings and began to experiment with papier colle (pasted paper) they often used a wood grain paper pasted to the artwork.
Georges Braques's early work consisted of more muted colors but after World War 1 began using more vibrant colors. He never completely abandoned his Cubist style. He did work in many, mediums. He made engraved plasters. lithographs, sculptures, and designed jewelry. A number of his works have sold in the area of eight figures.
