What is Xiamen Dada?

Xiamen Dada was a Chinese artist group from Xiamen city, on China’s southeast coast. The group, coming to prominence in the 1980s, explored the relationship between Chan Buddhism and European dada, embracing the absurd while using chance to determine the artworks made.

Offset Print

Printing technique that transfers the inked image(offsets) to rubber blanket from a plate, then later to a printing surface. Combined with lithographic process based on water and oil repulsion, this technique attracts a film that is water based to keep the non-printing area ink free. Offset lithography was initially created to cut down expenses when reproducing artwork.

Pencil

A Pencil is a writing tool constructed with a core of solid pigment, either black or colored, encased by a protective layer of wood or composite material. Pencils leave marks on paper by leaving part of the core pigment on the surface.

Sand

Sand is loose grains of material primarily made of quartz, mica, feldspar and other minerals and rocks. Sand paintings are made by pouring colored sands into designs; often for cultural rituals and special celebrations. The designs take many days to complete, and finally brushed away.
