What is Xiamen Dada?

Xiamen Dada was a Chinese artist group from Xiamen city, on China’s southeast coast. The group, coming to prominence in the 1980s, explored the relationship between Chan Buddhism and European dada, embracing the absurd while using chance to determine the artworks made.

Aquatint

An Intaglio printmaking art technique. Marks capable of holding dye or ink are made on the plate by the artist then passed trough a press together with a paper, resulting in transfer of the held ink to the sheet of paper. Depending on the technique, the process can be repeated for a number of times. It uses application of mordant to a metal plate just like etching.

Décollage

Décollage is the technique of removing, cutting, or tearing away sections of an original image. The French word means to take off, become unstuck or become unglued. Artists who use this technique may use art to symbolically replace values or tear thinking from media influence.
