What is Xiamen Dada?

Xiamen Dada was a Chinese artist group from Xiamen city, on China’s southeast coast. The group, coming to prominence in the 1980s, explored the relationship between Chan Buddhism and European dada, embracing the absurd while using chance to determine the artworks made.

Assemblage

Assemblage is the French word for the artistic process of putting together three dimensional objects to create a work of art. Artists often use found objects, such as leaves or stones from nature, discarded items or recycled materials, to assemble in a creative, interesting way.

Collage

A production art technique primarily and commonly used in visual arts where artwork is made through assemblage of forms of different kinds to wholly create a new one. It may at times include ribbons, newspaper & magazine clipping, bits of handmade or colored papers, photographs, portions of texts and other objects.

Aquagravure

Aquagravure is a technique combining several processes; including compressing wet paper pulp in a carved wood mold until the water runs off, painting the compressed paper, adding ink to the mold to print onto the painted paper, and allowing the entire work to dry.
