Dust Chaser

Massimo Bartolini Dust Chaser 1 etching with faint marks and scattered specks on a nearly blank surface, minimalist composition.

Photoetching on cooper plate // Massimo Bartolini's Dust Chaser 1, a limited edition etching from 2014, is a minimalist exploration of texture and imperfection. The work appears almost blank at first glance, with faint traces of delicate marks and subtle specks dispersed across the surface. This restrained approach emphasizes the nuances of dust and imperfection, inviting the viewer to notice the beauty in minute details and the ordinarily unnoticed. Bartolini's choice of a nearly empty composition encourages a meditative observation, elevating the commonplace element of dust to a subject of contemplation, blurring the line between absence and presence.

What is Sound Art?

Sound Art is an artistic discipline where sound is used as the primary medium. Like other contemporary art genres, Sound Art is inherently interdisciplinary, engaging with a variety of subjects including electronics, acoustics, noise music, psychoacoustics, audio media, video, film, and sculpture. Early examples of Sound Art include Luigi Russolo's noise intoners, as well as experimental works by Surrealists, Dadaists, and the Fluxus movement. These early pioneers helped establish sound as a legitimate medium for artistic expression.
