Joan Brossa Rellotge de sol lithograph depicting a stylized sundial with black lines on a blue background

// Rellotge de sol by Joan Brossa is a lithograph from 1989, encapsulating his fascination with time, symbolism, and simplicity. The artwork depicts a stylized sundial on a blue background, with bold black lines radiating from the center to indicate the hours. The design is minimalistic yet precise, evoking a sense of timelessness and quiet contemplation. Brossa's work often merges poetry and imagery, and in Rellotge de sol, he transforms a simple object into a visual poem that invites viewers to reflect on the passage of time. The choice of a sundial, an ancient tool for measuring time, aligns with Brossa’s themes of tradition and ephemeral moments captured in art. The limited edition aspect makes this print a prized collectible.

What is dada?

Also known as Dadaism, Dada was a literary and artistic movement that began in 1916 in Zurich, Switzerland. It emerged as a rejection of rationalism and nationalism, which were seen as contributing factors to World War I. The movement had political undertones and was strongly anti-war. Dada activities included demonstrations, gatherings, and the publication of literary and art journals that explored cultural and political topics.
