Lumière Noire unique II/X (2011) van Luis Tomasello is een uniek werk, vervaardigd uit hout en kunststof, 40 × 40 × 4 cm. Het oppervlak bestaat uit een raster van matzwarte vierkanten, waarvan sommige licht gekanteld zijn om het licht anders te vangen en te weerkaatsen. Deze subtiele variaties creëren een verfijnd spel van schaduw en licht, waardoor diepte en nuance ontstaan binnen het monochrome vlak. Als onderdeel van Tomasello’s bekende kinetische en optische onderzoek betrekt het werk de kijker via beweging en waarneming. Gesigneerd in stift op de achterzijde, en het enige exemplaar in zijn editie.

Lumière Noire unique II/X (2011) van Luis Tomasello is een uniek werk, vervaardigd uit hout en kunststof, 40 × 40 × 4 cm. Het oppervlak bestaat uit een raster van matzwarte vierkanten, waarvan sommige licht gekanteld zijn om het licht anders te vangen en te weerkaatsen. Deze subtiele variaties creëren een verfijnd spel van schaduw en licht, waardoor diepte en nuance ontstaan binnen het monochrome vlak. Als onderdeel van Tomasello’s bekende kinetische en optische onderzoek betrekt het werk de kijker via beweging en waarneming. Gesigneerd in stift op de achterzijde, en het enige exemplaar in zijn editie.

Wat is constructivisme?

Constructivisme is een architecturale en artistieke filosofie van Russische oorsprong die ontstond als een afwijzing van het idee van autonome kunst. De beweging pleitte voor kunst die praktische sociale doeleinden dient. Sinds de oprichting in 1919 heeft het constructivisme zich ontwikkeld en een aanzienlijke invloed uitgeoefend op kunststromingen in de 20e eeuw, waaronder belangrijke stromingen zoals De Stijl en Bauhaus.
