What is Grupo Ruptura?

Grupo Ruptura was an organization formed in Brazil by artists who wished to break away from the old forms of naturalist painting in favor of geometric abstract art. The seven published their Ruptura Manifesto, early in the 1950s, advocating “new art for a new country”.

Coloured pencil

Coloured pencils have a round core of different colored pigment encased in wood or are art sticks made with only solid pigment. The pigment is held together with a binder. Drawing spreads these ingredients on a surface, transferring color in varied widths.

Acrylic on paper is a technique which uses acrylic paints on a wide variety of paper weights and textures. Artists may choose to use watercolor paper with smooth or rough surfaces. Using the acrylic paints with watercolor methods, such as bleeding, washing and spattering.

Printing method based on the principle that water and oil cannot mix. It may be used for printing artwork or text onto a paper or any other suitable material for printing. Originally, an image drawn using wax, fat or oil onto a lithographic limestone surface or plate was used.
