Cavafy. Deze gelimiteerde oplage toont een winkelraam in Alexandrië, met een tabakswinkel prominent in beeld. De minimalistische lijnvoering legt de interactie vast van figuren die op straat staan, waaronder een kind gehurkt bij het winkelraam en een man in traditionele kleding die voorbijloopt. Boven de winkel vallen de opvallende borden His Master’s Voice en S. Audi & Frères op, die de afbeelding in een specifieke tijd en plaats situeren en thema’s van alledaags leven en observatie oproepen, kenmerkend voor Cavafy’s poëzie. Met een formaat van 18,5 x 12,6 inch en als onderdeel van een oplage van 500, illustreert dit werk Hockney’s vermogen om gewone momenten een gevoel van narratieve diepgang te geven.
