Markus Lupertz is a contemporary German painter. He received formal art training at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf, Germany. His work is described as humorous and unconventional. Among his better-known paintings is titled: Dusseldorf Konigsallee which he completed in 2005. Markus Lupertz’s first exhibit occurred in 1964 and he has since enjoyed more than a half-century of witnessing his art be featured in galleries across the globe. In 1970, he won an Art Prize from the Villa Romana. The following year, he received recognition from the German Association of Critics. Markus Lupertz has also been the recipient of the Louis Corinth Prize, which was bestowed by the Artist Guild. Markus Lupertz begun teaching in the 1970s upon being awarded a Professorship at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Art in Karlsruhe, Germany. From there, he went on to to the Dusseldorf Kunstakademie in Dusselfdorf, Germany, a place he has served for more than two decades. In addition to his paintings, Lupertz has found a modicum of success as a sculptor. His creations are typically bizarre images of people.
